In all of our lessons, equipment is provided free of charge. However, you will need to bring a towel, swimwear, sunscreen and a drink.
We ask all of our customers to wear comfortable swimwear to the lesson to make the changing process quicker and more convenient.
Yes! So we can schedule our small team of instructors, we need to know that lessons are confirmed, therefore we do ask for full payment in advance unless otherwise agreed with the Evolve Surf School team.

Being a mobile Surf School, we can choose the best location on the day to ensure you have the best surf session possible!
Our base is on the left side of Gwithian Towans Council Car Park, as you face towards the beach. If the conditions make this location unsurf-able; we will look at running from another location. These details will be automatically sent out with your email/SMS confirmation.
All of our Surf Lessons are 2 hours long apart from our Surf Days, Surf Camps and Surf Club Courses. We ask you turn up 20 minutes prior to your lesson to ensure a good time to allocate your equipment.
All our Instructors are ISA and/or ASI-qualified as well as qualified and experienced Beach Lifeguards with vast amounts of ocean knowledge. All staff are DBS checked. We have 5+ years of in-water experience and knowledge in beginner and advanced coaching methods.
All of our activities are regularly risk-assessed to ensure customer safety. We also work closely alongside SLSGB and our local Gwithian Lifeguards daily and have an immaculate safety record.
Yes! Our lessons take place in the ocean so getting wet certainly won’t be a problem.
We ask that you allow 20 minutes to check in, meet your instructor and get into your kit.
Yes. All children under 10 years old will need to be accompanied for the duration of the lesson by a non surfing adult. We recommend a minimum age of 6 for a full Surf Lesson.
We recommend a beginner lesson first because this will only take place in waist-depth water and you will have an instructor with you the whole time.
If you cannot swim 50 meters then you will need to let a member of staff know before your lesson as this is a minimum requirement.

Evolve Surf School is based in the Gwithian Council all day Car Park, we recommend bringing cash just in case the machines go down -they’ve done it before! The Car Park fills up quickly in the summer seasons, despite being a large car park.
We recommend leaving plenty of time to allow for Parking. Morning lessons are much better for parking spaces, after 11:00 in the full season, the Car Park fills up very quickly.
There is no straight answer to this question, everyone is different. With that said 95% of our students are comfortably and confidently riding waves in their first session.
Being in the water with a surfboard is naturally exhilarating, so whether you’re surfing, catching white water waves or learning along the way you’re going to feel the love for the sport.

We love taking everyone surfing, the minimum requirement is that you can swim 50 meters. Granted you can, we can do the rest! We’ve had deaf, limbless and many other impaired surfers in the past. We don’t encourage people to wear goggles during their surf lessons with us. We have taught surfers who go in the sea with contact lenses and have no problems. With all that said it’s your call -whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
Yes, we have one changing room in our Surf Container. We recommend bringing a warm changing towel or towel on the day to make changing more convenient if the changing room is full!
Yes, we do ask for a deposit on all of our equipment hire, a valid deposit is either in the form of an ID card and/or passport or a bank card.
Any damage/s to the Equipment I’ve hired is solely your responsibility for the ENTIRE time Hire equipment is RENTED FOR. Any damages to Evolve Surf School Equipment will be paid in full upon the time of return.
If any damages are not reported to staff upon return, additional costs may be incurred. It is your responsibility to inform staff of any damages to Surf Equipment that have happened during your rental period.
We are open and at the beach daily. With that said, there are times in the year when the weather and waves don’t line up as much as we’d like. There may be days when we have to reschedule/close our activities due to changes in weather -typically during the winter season.
In this case, we will still be open, taking enquiries and booking as well as Dropping-Off & Picking-Up Rental Equipment from our beachside base in the Gwithian Beach Car Park. If we aren’t at the beach we are just 2 minutes from the base at our lockup & office.
We have allocated drop-off and pick-up times from our base at Gwithian Beach Car Park. This allows us to make our round for Delivery drop-offs & pick-ups on the day too!
We drop off Equipment from 09:45 – 10:00 and pick-up from 16:30 – 16:45 but these times are subject to slight variation on the day. Call 07361234699 for further enquiries on Drop-Of & Pick-Up times.
Yes. All of our Delivery & Demonstration Services are available to book via our contact form or phone call. You will not find this option through our booking forms.
This is solely because we will require the address you want your Hire kit to be delivered. Granted you are within a 25-mile radius of our base at Gwithian Towans Car Park, we can deliver directly to your doorstep!
Demonstrations of how to use our kit from a qualified coach are available with a small extra fee, lasting from 20 minutes to ½ an hour -call us at 07361234699 for more details.
